What is Indie Arena Booth Online?

As part of gamescom 2020, we are proud to present the first fully digital version of the Indie Arena Booth! Part convention, part multiplayer online experience, this year's virtual Indie Arena Booth is our biggest undertaking so far. As it has been over the last five years, our goal as the world's biggest shared developer booth is to bolster visibility for indie devs, to bring press, players, and creators together, and of course, to play a lot of amazing games! This Indie Arena Booth will take place entirely online with our biggest selection of games ever, giving every developer the opportunity to take part.

What can I do here?

Create your avatar and enter the fantastic world of the virtual Indie Arena Booth - where you will be able to visit unique looking game booths, play exclusive demos, chat with the developers themselves and socialize with other visitors from around the globe!

Where can I find additional demo and sale pages?

If you'd like to know more about some of the great games being showcased this year, navigate to our amazing partner event sites at Steam and GOG where special pages have been setup highlighting our selected indie devs.

How long is Indie Arena Booth Online active?

We never sleep! You'll be able to visit the Indie Arena Booth Online day and night, throughout gamescom week. Our virtual doors will be closing on August 30th 11:59pm CEST.

Is the event free?

Yes, Indie Arena Booth Online is completely free to visit, watch, play and explore!

Why do I have to register?

Registrations enable us to provide a free and safe environment for everyone to interact. You are able to customize your avatar, collect custom heads from many different games and take part in future events with your profile.

What is the Business Area for?

The business area is a special feature for invited B2B guests. Only our developers, publishers, streamers and selected partners have access to this area. Unfortunately you can no longer register for the B2B area since Indie Arena Booth Online has already started.

What can I expect at the Indie Arena booth main show?

As always, we have prepared a quality content streaming program just for you! Covering all three days of gamescom 2020, we will show you indie highlights, Let's Play's, exclusive previews, and developer Q&A. All that, and more, over at our Twitch channel.

Where can I meet the streamers?

We are extremely proud to have some of fantastic streamers supporting the Indie Arena Booth Online and joining us to deliver you quality content. This year you can expect streamers such as What's Good Games, GirBeagly, GP_TV, DoktorFroid, fisHC0p, Dennsen86, Raupling, Indiestrolche, and more!

Who is your streaming host?

Our Indie Arena Booth Online main show will be hosted by the wonderful Shay, founder of Level Up Link Up and producer at Glass House Games. Follow her on Twitter and Instagram.

Game & Technology

How do I interact with other visitors?

You can chat with other people present at the same booth, spam emoji-chatbubbles, form groups to have private messages, and travel through the event together.

How do I interact with the developers?

Developers at the event will have a special icon floating above their heads, so that you can quickly find them in a crowd. You can interact with them like other visitors, ask questions about the game or join their Discord through the phonebox interactables you will find at many booths. Interact with the arcades to find out more about each game and follow them on social media.

How do the events work?

Many developers have set up events taking place over the course of the show. These can take place on Twitch, Discord or anywhere the developer chooses. Check the notice board at each booth to see what's coming up next!

How can I change my avatar?

Click the avatar icon in the top right of the game to customize your avatar. You can choose from a variety of bodies, heads and custom colors to make it uniquely yours. At many booths you can also find small merch tables where you can also get a free custom head designed by the developers to show it off to everyone else.

How do I control the game?

Use leftclick to walk around and rightclick to interact with things on the booth.

How can I search for a game title or genre?

Click the map icon in the top right and it will take you to the map overview. Here you can choose any game and instantly travel to its booth as well as enable filters highlighting games of a certain genre. You can also search by title.

How can I block someone?

We want you to have the best Indie Arena Booth Online experience possible, and will not tolerate harassment of any kind. You can block other users messaging you if you want. Our moderators are doing their very best, but unfortuantely they can't see everything.

Can I disable the background music?

You can disable the music in the game's options thorugh the settings icon on the left.

What is streamer mode?

You can turn off the whole worldchat if you want in the settings.

Nothing happens when I click "Play Demo"?

To play demos at the booth, you must have Steam installed and running in the background. If it still doesn't work, please reach out to us in our Discord.

What browser do you recommend?

The game was tested using Google Chrome and Firefox. Internet Explorer and legacy Microsoft Edge are known to have some issues.

I forgot my password, what can I do?

Unfortuantely we don't have a system in place to reset passwords, so you have to create a new account.
